Weekend in Denver

Carrie Sawyer is one of the best people God ever deigned to put on the Earth. She has been a constant encouragement, joy, and fellow wild spirit, and so I jumped at the opportunity to visit her in her new home: Denver, CO. Enjoy some photos from the journey!

Downtown Denver, or LoDo, has such an open feel, much like Boston's
North End. We visited the Tattered Cover, a local bookstore
with new and used books, and of COURSE I left with far more books than
I ever intended to buy.  This was an example of Carrie not being a
very good friend.

Denver's football mascot is the Bronco, and this is one of the
least frightening tributes, found in Fort Collins.  A bucking blue
stallion with flaming red eyes greets arrivals to Denver International Airport,
and someone told me that it fell on the original builder.
Carrie and I had friends praying for us on the journey.

Colorado is beer and wine country, and this was one
of two breweries that Carrie and I visited.  For $4 we tried a sampler,
and I learned that I definitely don't like dark beers,
or any with "chocolate flavoring" in the description.

On Saturday morning Carrie had to work, so I took the opportunity
to drive up to Estes Park, a tourist town also home to Rocky
Mountain National Park.  It had begun to snow (!!!!), and so I didn't get to hike
too far, but I found some smaller trails and explored the land a little bit.

The "You Are in God's Country" sign.

Never had I ever been cut off on the road by an elk.

Until now.
